-----The purpose of this workshop will be to eliminate the false notion that jazz is only to be appreciated by an elite few. Just as anyone can talk, or anyone can learn to play the piano, anyone can learn to play and/or appreciate jazz. Workshop participants will receive advice and guidance on how to get started playing jazz piano. Some participants will even play their first improvised solo for the audience!

- 7:00 P.M.  Concert: The Jeremy Lenz Trio (jazz standards), Dr. Arthur Houle ("Radical Beethoven") and Dr. David Wohl ("Audience-inspired Improvisations")

-----Jeremy Lenz studied classical piano with Sonnet Johnson and continued his studies at Albertson College with Arthur Houle . While at Albertson College and since graduating, Jeremy's latent talents as a composer and jazz artist have distinguished him in the Boise area and beyond.

-----Houle will present original jazz and a groundbreaking reinterpretation of Beethoven's Sonata in E, Op. 14/1. Houle's provocative Beethoven presentation has also been accepted for performance this coming fall at the annual USA/Canada conference of the 9000-member College Music Society in San Francisco, and was previously presented for two regional CMS conferences.
